Just south of Kuwait City by 10 miles in Farwaniyah, Kuwait is Kuwait Airport. It is a hub for Kuwait Airways, Jazeera Airways, Wataniya Airways and United Aviation. Kuwait Airport is also a main cargo hub for international carriers such as British Airways and Lufthansa and the major hub of DHL.

Recently several new routes have been added by Jazeera Airways. These new regional flights offer convenient connections via Kuwait. Flights from Beirut to Dubai have fares starting from KD15, while flights from Bahrain to Cochin, Delhi and Mumbai start from KD20. There are a number of direct flights from Kuwait Airport.

The airport can handle over seven million passengers annually. In 2008 a new terminal was built. There are new features including an entrance, check-in areas, an airport mall and multi-level parking. Terminal 2 is currently under construction and its completion in 2014 will increase the amount of passengers handled to 20 million.

Kuwait Airport receives flights from over 25 destinations. It also receives more than 30 airlines and is a hub for several. Major airlines that serve the airport include British Airways, Gulf Air, Emirates, Air France, Lufthansa, Thai Airways International and Singapore Airlines. Regional routes are a new addition served by Jazeera Airways.

Direct routes serve Bahrain, Ahwaz, Mashhad, Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt, Doha, Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi, Jeddah, Singapore, Amman, Lahore and more. The airport is a major link of the island to Kuwait to the regions of the northern Gulf. There are more than 50 international flights a day. Cathay Pacific and British Airways fly direct to London Heathrow.
